16 Jul Conversion LNG Dredger
Global Alignment and Engine Service has recently finished the works for Damen Shiprepair Dunkerque on board of the Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger Samuel de Champlain belonging to the GIE Dragages-Ports. The conversion work involves modifications to the internal structure to allow the installation of two, Type C LNG tanks on the hopper deck. Furthermore, the three existing diesel engines are replaced with three MAN dual-fuel engines. At the same time, the electrical distribution, command & control systems and security systems are all been upgraded. The machinery spaces, the cooling systems and various piping are also modernized. Global Alignment & Engine Service is proud to be part of this project, we were involved to carry out the following services:
- 3D Measurement of the fore support alignment block positions with the after-support foundation of the LNG tanks
- Setting-out the foundation bolt holes from drawing template with Laser Tracker in the construction before engine and generator placement
- Making and delivery of LNG tank alignment blocks
- Alignment of the MAN engines and generators
- Chocking with Epocast 36® of the main engines
- Chocking with Rotachocks of the generators
- The damming and chocking with Epocast 36® of LNG sliding plate foundations of port and starboard LNG tanks
- Shaftload measurements on the port and starboard propulsion line before and after docking.
- Alignment of propulsion E-motor
